OSRS Crafting Guide

Crafting is a part of the ‘Buyable Skill’ category where you can buy the items required to train, which is similar to Prayer and Herblore. In the following guide, we’ll be covering the best methods to train your crafting skill. It’ll be quick, cheap, and an AFK-able approach. So, let’s begin.

Things to consider

Mushroom Pies give you a +4 boost in Crafting. It can come in handy while training as it’ll allow you to make items that are 4 levels ahead.

The location to train depends on your current level, and whether or not you’re a member of the game. If you’re a F2P player, you can head to the Edgeville furnace which is also close to a bank. If you’re a P2P player, then the furnace in Prifddinas is the best option; however, you’ll need to complete the Song of the Elves quest to access the city.

If you’re crafting items that require you to constantly bank, then you can set up your character near a bank chest. Unlike actual banks, you don’t need to right-click a bank chest. We recommend using the one at the Dual Arena or Castle Wars.

Fastest

Level 1 to 54

One of the fastest ways to level up your Crafting is by cutting gemstones. You can get about 200,000 XP per hour by cutting higher-tier gems. Start with Uncut Opals from level 1 to 20, and then switch to Uncut Sapphires until level 27, followed by Uncut Emeralds till 34, and then Uncut Rubies till you reach level 54.

Level 54 to 99

To cover the remaining levels, you need to craft battle staves. Make sure you check out the recent prices using a skill calculator. From levels 54 to 58, you’ll be making Water Battle Staves, and then you need to switch to Earth, followed by Air Battle Staves at levels 58 and 66, respectively.

Alternatively, you can craft Dragonhide Bodies. They offer massive XP rates per hour. Start by making Green Dragonhide Bodies at level 63, followed by Blue Dragonhide Bodies at level 71, Red Dragonhide Bodies at level 77, and Black Dragonhide Bodies at level 84.

Cheapest

The cheapest way to achieve level 99 Crafting is Glassblowing. You’ll be spending around 16 to 24M OSRS Gold depending on the current rates and whether you’re going with Unpowered & Light Orbs or not. You’ll need a glassblowing pipe first, which can be bought from the Grand Exchange. Ironman players can get it from the most southwestern house on Entrana. Besides that, you’ll also need Molten Glass as well as a secondary ingredient.

Start by making Beer Glasses from levels 1 to 4, and then switch to Empty Candle Lantern till level 12, followed by Empty Oil Lamp till level 33, Vials till level 42, Empty Fishbowls till level 46, Unpowered Orbs till level 87 or 99, and finally, Light Orbs to cover the rest.

F2P

Level 1 to 8

To cover the early levels as a F2P player, you can complete quests that have little to no requirements to start. The quests are Sheep Shearer, Mishtalin Myster, and Goblin Diplomacy, offering 150, 200, and 600 Crafting XP, respectively.

Level 5 to 99

A good and profitable approach from levels 5 to 20 is crafting gold jewelry. However, you’ll need access to a furnace and we recommend using the one in Edgeville as it’s close to a bank. Besides that, you’ll need a Jewelry Mold and several Gold Bars. Once you read level 20, you can switch to making Sapphire Necklaces for a net profit of 24M RS Gold by the time you max out.
